Explication

Beyond ne...pas, French has many negative constructions: ne...jamais (never), ne...rien (nothing), ne...personne (nobody), ne...plus (no more/longer), ne...aucun(e) (none/no).

Rien and personne can also be subjects: Rien ne marche (Nothing works). Personne ne parle (Nobody is speaking).
